At Stoke Damerel we teach the children to read by following the Read, Write Inc. programme.

 

Read Write Inc. Phonics is a whole-school approach to teaching literacy for 4 to 9-year olds that creates fluent readers, confident speakers and willing writers. It integrates phonics with comprehension, writing, grammar, spelling and handwriting, using engaging partner work and drama.

 

Read, Write Inc. is taught daily. Your child will be placed in a group which ensures that they are learning at the right level for them. They will bring home Book Bag Books which reinforce what they have been learning in school. They will also bring home a Library book to share.
