How will my child progress in their knowledge, skill and understanding in Design Technology?

Progression of Knowledge, Skills and Understanding (KSU):  Design Technology

Through IPC Design Technology tasks, learners will improve their knowledge of materials and the ways they can be shaped and manipulated.

The Learning Goals are intentionally broad to allow for skills development in food technology, engineering, functional & aesthetic design and production, textiles, and systems and control.

Learners will develop an understanding of the iterative process of creating through the conception, manufacture and improvement of their own designs. Evaluation and reflection will be both ongoing and summative, both within and beyond the individual’s creative design process

The Learning Goals in Design Technology can be identified as Knowledge (Know), Skills (Be able to) and Understanding (Understand).
