Girl and robot writing activity information.             

Step 1-

Watch the film and think of questions as you are watching it.

  • Why is she building a robot?
  • Where are her parents?
  • Why is she not at school?
  • What special powers will the robot have?
  • What amazing thing did the robot do?
  • Talk about the vocabulary you would use to do with machinery and robots; magnet, power, cranks, lever, pipes, spanners, antennae, sprockets and bolts.  You can then use this vocabulary in your written work.
  • What happened next?

This week we are giving you a choice of activities.

Choice 1-

  • Design your own special robot.
  • Draw and label it with descriptions of what the different parts are called and what they are for. 

 

Choice 2-

  • Make a model of a robot using junk recycled materials.
  • Stick a photo of it in your book and label it with descriptions of what the different parts are called and what they are for. 

 

 Choice 3-

  • Write the next part of the story.
  • What happened next?
  • How did the girl escape?
  • How did the robot escape?
  • What special powers did the robot use to escape?

 

Special challenge-

Do choice 1 or 2 and do choice 3 – to write the next part of the story.

Success criteria:

  • Use 2A (2adjectives together) sentences.
  • Use conjunctions to extend sentences.
  • Use double –ly (2 adverbs together) in the story.
